Grylls Barnett Push Food Prices Up

Minister Minister for Regional Development and Lands Brendon Grylls has directly contributed to the increase in food prices for Western Australian.

Grylls has put the lease cost of farmers up by amounts of up to 700%.

Not only are housing costs going up for Western Australians, which Premier Barnett has described as not being in crisis, the current WA Government has allowed unprecedented increase in land rental costs used for food production.

These increases which amount to ten of thousands of dollars are directly passed on by increased food cost to Western Australian consumers.

In what is really a hidden tax increase on Western Australian's this approach and method by the WA Government is shameful.

The Department of Regional Development and Lands website states

'The Minister for Regional Development and Lands, the Honourable Brendon Grylls MLA, and the Minister for Agriculture and Food, the Honourable Terry Redman MLA, are working together to strengthen the pastoral industry in Western Australia and to expand land and economic development options in the rangelands.'

Brendon Grylls's rhetoric before the 2008 election, and indeed since, was that he supported regional businesses, however these actions have been completely in contrast of sales pitch in getting elected.

When the Federal Government tried to increase Mining Tax Premier Barnett was critical of the system, however, his silence on this hidden tax on farmers is simply unjust to the industry.

We sincerely apologise to WA farmers for not doing more on this issue during the election period.

The #wa2013vote website will be kept online so politicians promises and statements can be checked until the end of next WA election in 2017, and after.
