Duncraig High School gets a new administration block

Liberal Annoucement Dec 3

Carine MLA Tony Krsticevic has welcomed the State Government’s announcement that it has committed $5million to build a new administration block at Duncraig High School.

"I recently visited Duncraig Senior High School, which will shortly become part of my electorate, and discovered the school was in urgent need of a new administration block," said Mr Krsticevic.

"The school was built in 1978, and now numbers over 1000 students, and will welcome more students when the year 7’s join the school community in 2015," he said.

"I wrote to the Minister to draw his attention to this need, and I am delighted by his quick action on this matter."

The $5million will provide a new administration block and new, welcoming entrance to the school. The current administration block will be refurbished to contemporary standards to accommodate student services. Planning will begin next year with works expected to be completed by 2015.

Education Minister Peter Collier said Duncraig High School was an important pillar of the Perth northern corridor’s education.

"The Liberal-National Government has, and will continue to invest significantly in capital works projects in schools throughout Western Australia to further enhance the wonderful academic and vocational programs they offer," Mr Collier said.

Already in this term of office, the Liberal-National Government has committed $711m in new education infrastructure and $721m in upgrading or refurbishing existing infrastructure, including $100m from the Royalties for Regions program.
