Crook Takes WA Federal Members to Task on GST

The stoush between the Nationals and Liberals in West Australia's Federal O'Connor seat has seen incumbent Tony Crook comes out swinging at Abbott's Federal Liberals over WA's GST share.

It is well known and discussed in West Australia the declining share of GST from the Federal Government and the effect on the economy, standard of living and critical services.

Nationals member Crook said,

'When I moved a motion in the House of Representatives last year to put a floor on the GST return, there wasn’t a WA Member in sight.

WA Liberals were again cowering under their desks and kowtowing to their eastern states bosses. Labor was no better.'

He has reiterated with,

'The next election (federal) must be fought on the future of regional Australia, and its fundamental role in driving an economic recovery.

That means backing our farmers, miners and manufacturers; encouraging investment in regional areas and creating jobs.

For me, as the Member representing a regional electorate, this means standing up for regional Western Australian in Parliament, and not towing the line of an east-coast dominated, city-centric party room like the Liberals.'
